Coach Clayton Martin Announced as Talent Scout for 2026 All State Game

By Simon Clements ASG Kentucky Football

Clayton Martin's journey into coaching began unexpectedly, rooted in a moment of introspection inspired by a church sermon. "Coaching came as a surprise to me," Martin reflected. "Sitting in church one Sunday and the pastor asked the crowd 'What we were doing to serve?'" This pivotal moment led him to embrace a new path, ignited by a call from a youth pastor inviting him to coach middle school football, focusing not only on the game but more importantly, on the kids.

From those humble beginnings, Coach Martin's record speaks volumes. His tenure at Carroll County Middle School was marked by an undefeated season in 2020, where his team didn't allow a single point, a feat that remains unparalleled. This remarkable achievement was a testament to his dedication and skill, reminiscent of his own days as a Conference Champion for Carroll County High School two decades prior. His athletic prowess extended beyond football, having been crowned the lightweight 'King of the Hill' in the 2002 Boxing Tournament and winning the Grand Prix VII 2009 ICF MMA.

Martin's coaching success isn't confined to football. In 2020, he showcased his versatility by leading four different teams, including his daughters' softball teams, to undefeated seasons. His coaching excellence was recognized with the Parks & Rec Softball Coach of the Year award in 2021, followed by league championships spanning multiple counties.

As he transitions to his role as Talent Scout for the ASG Kentucky Football, Martin will seek out young athletes who demonstrate both exceptional skill and character. His mission is clear: to ensure that talent in small towns and underfunded programs doesn't go unnoticed. Martin's unique position will allow him to cut through the hype and elevate those deserving of the All State Game stage, ensuring that opportunity isn't dictated by geography or financial means.

Coach Martin's philosophy is simple yet profound: "Coaching is way more than the X's and O's. It's all about the people you get the opportunity to impact." As he steps into his new role, he carries the same commitment to service and excellence that has defined his career.
