Coach Tyler Card Announced as Talent Scout for 2026 All State Game
In a move set to reshape youth football scouting in North Carolina, Tyler Card, known widely as Coach Card, has been appointed as the Talent Scout for the ASG North Carolina Football in Greensboro. With his extensive coaching background, including a notable tenure as head coach at Greensboro College starting in January 2020, Card brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to this pivotal role.
During his time at Greensboro College, Coach Card has seen both challenges and triumphs. Despite a tough 1-9 season in 2024, his leadership was evident as six players were named USA South All-Conference, a testament to his ability to develop talent even in adversity. In 2023, Card guided Greensboro to produce standout defensive talent, with Larry Jones earning the USA South Defensive Rookie of the Year accolade. Card's influence was also clear in 2021 and 2022, with players consistently recognized in conference honors.
Before his impactful stint at Greensboro, Card honed his coaching acumen as the offensive coordinator at Sul Ross State University. Under his guidance, the Lobos achieved their first winning season in two decades with a 6-4 record in 2016, followed by a 5-5 season in 2017, earning NCAA Division III polls' top-25 votes. Card's tenure at Sul Ross was marked by his success in recruiting, including managing all recruitment facets and significantly bolstering the program's roster.
Card's expertise extends beyond coaching. At Pace University, he played a crucial role in ending a 38-game losing streak, and his efforts at Weber State University saw academic improvements that helped avert a postseason ban. His journey began at Southern Virginia University, where he was instrumental in boosting team numbers and served as a prominent player, earning multiple honors, including NAIA Honorable Mention All-American.
Now, as a Talent Scout, Coach Card is set to identify and nurture exceptional young athletes across North Carolina. He will focus on ensuring that standout middle school athletes, regardless of their community's size or resources, find their place in the spotlight. As part of the All State Game's selection committee, Card's role will be pivotal in shaping the future of young football talent, ensuring the best athletes emerge from every corner of the state.
