Coach Omar Boone Announced as Talent Scout for 2026 All State Game

By Simon Clements ASG Oklahoma Boys Basketball

Omar Boone, a stalwart in Oklahoma City’s basketball community, steps into his new role as Talent Scout for the ASG Oklahoma Boys Basketball with a track record that speaks volumes. A proud graduate of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Boone earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1991 while making his mark on the court. His accolades include NAIA Honors and District 9 Player of the Week awards, a testament to his prowess as a player. Boone was only the second player in USAO's history to earn such distinctions, and he played a key role in propelling his team to the District 9 Final Four during the 1989-90 season.

Transitioning from player to coach, Boone has dedicated his career to fostering both academic and athletic excellence for young athletes. His vision became reality in 2007 with the creation of the KIDZ 2 ACHIEVE Organization. Over the years, KIDZ 2 ACHIEVE (K2A) has empowered countless boys and girls, encouraging them to "excel in both Academics and Athletics," as Boone himself expressed. The organization stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity, aligning perfectly with his new responsibilities at ASG.

As a Talent Scout, Coach Boone plays a crucial role in identifying and nominating exceptional athletes in grades 6 through 8. His mission is clear: to ensure that talent is recognized regardless of geography or financial background. Boone’s role as a gatekeeper in the selection process is pivotal, as he works to highlight athletes whose skill and character deserve the spotlight. By advocating for young talent, especially from small towns and underfunded programs, Boone will be instrumental in shaping the future of Oklahoma basketball.

In joining the All State Game network, Boone is not only continuing his lifelong commitment to basketball but also expanding his impact, building connections with top coaches and potentially progressing to roles like Community Champion or Regional Director. His journey from a celebrated player to a dedicated mentor marks him as a vital contributor to the sport, ensuring that the next generation of athletes receives the recognition and opportunities they deserve.
